what does communications group doGood means of communication are essential to the effective running of a thriving community. The Communications Group is the most recent theme group to be established, meeting for the first time in Nov 2009, in response to replies from the Questionnaire, which revealed that there were some problems in communication within the villages. It was the perception of some that either they had not received, or had access to, information on Parish matters available and circulated. Therefore, as part of its remit, the Communication Group has sought to address this issue and has focused on the four methods which already exist within the parish, which are: A parish ‘gateway’ website: www.cradley.org.uk, (eg: links to the Parish Council, the Parish Plan, Cradley VA School, Cradley Village Hall, the sports club, Midsummer Masquerde 2011 etc) The Parish Newsletter, The Reporter (the Parish Council’s quarterly publication) and ‘Word of mouth/Noticeboards’In addition, work has continued on our dedicated website for the Parish Plan, (recently revamped), available at: www.cradleyandstorridgepp.org.uk

what the communications group have done and will do(A) What We’ve doneExtensive discussion, based on the recommendations of the questionnaire responses, took place with those involved with a variety of community websites, and the editorial groups of the Newsletter and the Reporter. (B) What we’re going to doA variety of topics emerged for further exploration and implementation including the coordination of the existing means of communication within the community and a rationalisation of their structure to allow for their more effective use. Most crucial is the proposed development of a tourism strategy for the parish.
